The Jump Ángel or Kerekupai-merú are the highest jump of water in the world with near 978 m of height of which 807 m is of uninterrupted fall. The waterfall or cascade is located in the state Bolívar, Venezuela. History
It was sighted in 1910 by the browser Ernesto Sánchez Cruz although their official "discovery" is attributed to the aviator James Crawford Angel who showed it to the world in the year 1937 after having landed in the summit of Auyan Tepui when it looked for gold in the area.
Ernesto Sánchez Cruz didn't only discover the Jump Angel but rather he made other discoveries; he sometimes went into in the forest for periods of 3 or 4 months. He made the notification of the discovery of the Jump Angel to the Ministry of Mines and Hydrocarbons and years later it was called to recognize it as the true discoverer, to what he answered he/she gives it to him "to who God, San Pedro blesses" him to him since many years before Jimmy Angel has sighted to the Jump Angel, Sánchez Cruz had deposited the plans of the route to arrive to the jump in the House Blohm, in City Bolívar.

Etymological Origin

The jump owes its name to the American aviator James Angel who showed it to the world in the year 1937. The Jump Ángel is also called Kerekupai-merú by the natives that it means "Jump of the deepest" place in the language pemón... Churún-Merú is the name that you/they gave the natives to this mountain.
