The Great Savanna is a natural region located to the south of Venezuela in the solid of Guayanas, in the southeast part of the State Bolívar in the frontier with Brazil, has a temperature average of 23ºC. In her indigenous diverse groups cohabit, among them the ethnos Pemón. One of the National most extensive Parks in Venezuela constitutes in the one that is the Jump Angel that, with almost a kilometer of vertical fall, is the cascade of more height in the world.

Physical Geography
Orográficamente is characterized to be formed by a wide plateau, with a lightly wavy relief, but with quite abrupt borders: the highway of The Gilding to Santa Elena of Uairén passes of the 200 meters of altitude until the 1500 in less than 30 kms., in a place appropriately denominated The Stairway. Their savanna condition is not due to its climate (that it is sufficiently rainy to sustain a forest vegetation) but to the rocky and sandy constitution of the floors, although forest stains can be observed in some depressions and, mainly, gallery forests next to the rivers. This plateau is sprinkled for solid old very erosionados in form to tabulate, the calls tepuyes, typical plateaus of Guayanas that, in the Great Savanna, they reach its maximum altitude in Tepuy Roraima, with 2.800 meters on the sea level.

The most important city in the area is Santa Elena of Uairén with an approximate population of 14.000 inhabitants, near to the Brazilian frontier. It is located at an approximate distance of 1.400 km of Caracas.

The national Park Canaima or Kanaima, you creó mediating ordinance June 12 1962 with an approximate surface of a million (1.000.000) hectares. In 1975 their dimensions were enlarged at 3.000.000 of hectares (30.000 km²), what transforms it into the sixth national (in dimensions) park in the world.

Ethnic groups
The ethnos of the pemones is the most numerous group in the natives in the region. they are spread by the whole National Park Canaima and they are divided in three big groups: Arekunas, Taurepanes and Kumaragotos, are kind, calm and workers. They are the inhabitants common of the Great Savanna and nowadays they have understood in the tourist activity, they manage and they administer inns and they serve as guides in expeditions for the region, they also speak with easiness English. To arrive to the Great Savanna it is necessary to traffic the asphalted highway that it crosses it between The Gilding and the frontier with Brazil, equally it can take an airplane until Santa Elena of Uairén.

I JUMP KAMA MERÚ (Km. 201)
I Jump Kamá or Kamá-merú: a spectacular cascade of the Great Savanna, beside the main highway, measures about 50 mts of height, and it is one of the favorite places to camp, although the plague is our undesirable friend, (puri puri), it is located in the Km. 201. and the possibility exists of passing behind the jump by means of a curiara that is let in the place to the indigenous pemones.
In this place we find restoring and housing, for very affordable prices. we can also break camp, if we have carp for what you/they will charge us a very reduced sum of money. At night if there is uncluttered sky we will enjoy a spectacular view of the congested firmament of stars. He/she can also buy himself typical craft. It is an obligatory stop for all tourist or lover of the nature. it is located reason why to the margin of the main highway it is not needed to have a peasant to arrive until him, any vehicle can consent to this beautiful place.

GULCH OF JASPER (Km. 273)
It is maybe, the most popular place in the Great Savanna, it is constituted by a gulch that travels through a flat jasper stone of about 300 mts of longitude, with a level of water that it doesn't surpass the 5 centimeters. it is a fascinating surrounded place of trees and the seasons enjoy slipping very well on this oily flagstone polished by the step of the water. They also like to receive massages of their small jumps going to bed mouth first floor in the different ones fallen in that the gulch is divided. The bottom is conformed by a material semiprecioso mixture of crystalline quartz and Silica called amorphous Jasper. It is a gulch without sand, and without loose stones, but a flagstone of red and yellow jasper of some 300mts of longitude on which the current of Kaku-parú flows, of about five centimeters of level of water on this flagstone, it is surrounded of trees of more than 20mts of height, it is an ideal place to rest delighting with the extraordinary atmosphere that is believed in this place.
