In this region the plain of the delta of Orinoco is also included whose origin and character ísticas is very similar to those of the plains. The Plains occupy 35% of the total area of the national territory, including the flat and muddy lands of the Delta of Orinoco. The region Venezuelan llanera extends on almost a third part of the national territory and it constitutes a quite homogeneous unit when we consider it in its group, although notables local differences exist as for the relief, the climate, the vegetation, the hydrography and the floors. The region of The Plains is located, in the center of the, country and. it is constituted basically by the basin hidrográfica of the river Orinoco To the north it limits with the mountain range of Costa: to the northwest and west with the mountain range of Andes and to the south and southeast with the solid of Guayanas. Inside the region that occupies a surface, of 280.000 km2, three differentiated areas exist assisting to their relief: western plains, central plains and oriental plains. The depression of Unare, located between the serranía of the Interior and the solid one oriental, it is included in the oriental plains. Western Plains: The low plains, basically under the 100 meters high on the sea level, they are flooded during the rainy season and (winter) they have parallel many rivers to each other and that they frequently change course for action of the dunes (mountains of sand) that are moved by the winds during the drought (summer). The high plains are to the foot of Andes and they are some very rich lands for the cultivation. The western plains correspond, approximately, to the Portuguese states, Barinas and Hurry and they are divided in low plains and high plains that are separated by the curve of level of the 100 meters on the sea level. Climate The half annual temperature is of 27 or C, with the maximum values and annual minima of 33 or C and 22 or C, respectively. The plains have a climate rainy intertropical of savanna with a very marked station of rains in the south (Hurry) and with a very marked drought in the north of the state Guárico. In the north of the state Anzoátegui the climate is more arid. The low plains: They show up below the bench mark of the 100 meters high and they extend for wide areas, mainly, of the state it Hurries. It is a plain inundable, where the rivers are subdivided in parallel numerous beds among if, with an unstable layout , characterized by the numerous bends, natural dikes or stockings, abandoned beds and lakes in horseshoe. In the low western plains they show up the most extensive fields of dunes in Venezuela. These sandy dunes or dunes are lengthened and parallel to each other, with the address of the dominant winds of the northeast and they act modifying the course of the rivers temporarily. The rivers of the low plains have a west address to this. The sand that constitutes the fields of dunes comes from the Guianese shield and it is carried by the river Orinoco until the outlet of the main rivers of the low western plains, as Capanaparo, Cunaviche, Arauca and the one Hurries. These rivers, when braking the speed of their waters diminish their load capacity for what the Guianese sands coming from the solid one are deposited in their margin left (the margin right is higher). Then, especially in the dry seasons, the winds take charge of transferring those sands toward the Southwest, overcoming the course of the rivers Capanaparo, Cunaviche Cinaruco and Arauca. The fields of dunes occupy an extension of several km2 thousands and they have given origin to an address change in the rivers llaneros near their outlet, an example of it is it the river Arauca that changes their address toward the south near their fork with the river Orinoco. The low plains have a scarce population and equally the communication roads are scarce and precarious the economic most important activity is the extensive cattle raising. The clusters of this area are properties of great extension, but the density of the livestock for hectare it is very low. The high plains: They correspond to the area of the piedemonte Andean-llanero. The high plains represent a very rich area from the agricultural point of view. The floors are deep and fertile, the drainage is adapted and very good watering possibilities exist for extensive areas. The progressive substitution of some cultivations for others of more yield, as well as the increase of the cultivated area, they will go giving origin to an increment of the agricultural wealth of this area. The oil exploitation has certain importance. The central plains: The central plains correspond to the states approximately Cojedes and Guárico and their relief is not uniform, since it presents in its north half a series of mountainous guided lines of northeast to Southwest and whose height goes diminishing from north to south. These lines, well-known locally as galleys, they are constituted by sedimentary (mainly calcareous) rocks and they are related geológicamente with the serranía of the Interior. Among them they can make an appointment to those of Ortiz, Pao and, especially, to those of Guarumen, of about 500 meters high and that they are cut by the river Guárico in the point where the reservoir of Camatagua was built. The origin and the constitution of the hills of The Trunk are very different, formed by igneous and metamorphic relatively old (Paleozoico-Mesozoic) rocks and that they are toward the Southwest of the central plains, in the state Cojedes. In the central plains, the main rivers go from north to south, following the natural slope of the land. The silts crawled by the rivers Pao, Smutty and some tributaries of the Portuguese, as well as Guárico, Manapire and Zuata that end directly in the one Hurry and Orinoco is those responsible for the narrowing of the low plains, waters under the fork of the one Hurry with Orinoco (the low plains constitute a subsidencia area, in which the relief spreads to collapse). The economic traditional activity of this subregión was the extensive cattle raising that he/she has come being substituted by a modern agriculture, with wide areas of irrigable. The water is relatively scarce because the rivers are less mighty than those that lower of Andes and, also, because the enormous necessities of water of the central region of the country (including to the Metropolitan Area of Caracas) have forced to build systems of pumping of water starting from the rivers Pao and Guárico that are the most important. This way, the reservoir of Camatagua, in the river Guárico that was built originally with agricultural ends, was dedicated to the supply of the city of Caracas. | | What does it include? | - All the foods and non-alcoholic drinks.
